It’s day 3 of Thanksgiving Week on the blog and I’m so excited to share this side dish that first appeared on the blog in 2013. Now with delicious new images to match this incredibly delicious potato dish!

Every time I make these blue cheese mashed potatoes, family and friends always agree that these are “the best mashed potatoes they’ve ever had!

The combination of rosemary herb butter and creamy blue cheese adds so much flavor to a classic mashed potato recipe!

If you’re making this dish for Thanksgiving, you can prep it ahead of time. You can then finish the dish by baking it in the oven for 5-7 minutes, right before serving it.

I find that mashed potatoes are one of the hardest dishes to keep warm on the Thanksgiving dinner table, so this recipe is perfect for preventing cold, sad mashed potatoes. We all want warm, fun, flavorful mashed potatoes at our Thanksgiving dinners, am I right?!

Ingredients

  • Russet potatoes
  • Unsalted butter
  • Garlic cloves
  • Ground black pepper
  • Steak seasoning – click the link for my easy homemade seasoning blend.
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Blue cheese crumbles

Step by step instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Place the potatoes in a large pot of boiling water for 15 minutes, or until fork tender.

While the potatoes are boiling, add the butter, garlic, black pepper, steak seasoning, kosher salt and rosemary to a small skillet over medium heat until the butter is melted.

Once the butter is melted, turn the temperature down to low and allow the flavors to combine for 5-10 minutes.

Once the potatoes are fork tender, drain the potatoes then return them back to the pot over low heat. Use an electric hand mixer to mash the potatoes. Hand mix in the garlic rosemary butter and half of the blue cheese.

Spoon the mashed potatoes into an oven safe bowl or casserole dish. Sprinkle the remaining blue cheese on top.

Place in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes.

Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
