Sausage balls have been a holiday party favorite of mine since I was a little girl. My aunt used to make them at her house every Christmas Eve and I was hooked from then on!
Over the years I’ve made different versions of Sausage Balls, include these popular Stuffing Sausage Balls, but for this years party I decided to make a gluten free version of the dish and add a little boost of flavor with the addition of creamy sweet potatoes.
- 3 cups homemade gluten free biscuick mix
- 3 cups Premium Gold Gluten Free Flour
- 4 ½ tsp baking powder
- ¾ tsp salt
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sweet potato (peeled, cubed, boiled, mashed)
- 2 lb sausage (hot or mild – I used one of each for a slightly spicy flavor)
Preheat oven to 375°.
Combine all of the ingredients for the homemade bisquick mix in a large bowl.
Next, add the mashed sweet potato.
Then the sausage and cheddar cheese.
Form into golf ball sized balls and place on a baking sheet.
Bake for 15-18 minutes.
To be completly honest, the first tray of these I baked and photographed, them me and my friend Bradie ate the entire tray.
Later that night, I had 30 + friends at my house, huddling over the kitchen to make sure they got one of these delicious sausage balls off the next tray to come out of the oven!
To say they are a “crowd pleaser” would be the understatement of the century!
