If the pictures alone don’t scream “make me, eat me, love me!” then let me tell you, you want to make this recipe, eat this recipe, and you’re going to love this recipe! I give it the “Whitney Guarantee” 🙂
This recipe was inspired by my favorite dish at Lucky Liu’s Chinese Restaurant. Speaking of Lucky Liu’s, I was just there yesterday filming a new web series!
Yes, my latest on camera venture will be live in the coming weeks on the blog and will feature my favorite dishes from my favorite restaurants downtown San Diego!

Now back to that scrumptious Orange Chicken Recipe!
I decided to make my version a little healthier and gluten free so that everyone could try this recipe, because seriously, everyone needs to try this recipe!
I know, I go on and on about a lot of recipes, but this one, this one, you really have to try!
See all of those italics and bolds, that means I’m really serious 😉
It’s the perfect meal for a weeknight dinner because it’s made in just 30 minutes!
- ¼ cup fresh squeezed orange juice
- 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 2 tbsp gluten free soy sauce
- 1 tsp sriracha
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 1 tsp orange zest
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- 2 tbsp + ¼ cup brown sugar (divided)
- 2 chicken breasts (boneless, skinless – sliced into large chunks)
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 egg (whisked)
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp fresh green onions (chopped – garnish)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (garnish)
Prepare the sauce by combining the first 7 ingredients + ¼ cup brown sugar in a medium bowl.
Set the sauce aside.
Prepare a shallow dish with the whisked egg and another with the cornstarch and 2 tbsp brown sugar.
Place the chicken into the egg then lightly coat in the cornstarch mixture.
Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the breaded chicken.
Cook 5-7 minutes, or until chicken begins to lightly brown.
Pour the sauce over the chicken. Reduce heat to low and cook 8-10 minutes.
Serve with rice, vegetables or lettuce for wraps. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
All I want to do right now is run into my kitchen and make more of this!
Honestly, one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever created on the blog!
Head into the kitchen and get cooking! And be sure to take a picture of your Orange Chicken (or any other WhitneyBond.com recipe that you make at home!), post it on Instagram and hashtag #WBRecipes!
I love seeing all of your recipe creations from the blog! It’s seriously my favorite thing and totally makes my day!
