Cheesy Taco Sausage Balls

Cheesy Taco Sausage Balls Recipe

If there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s how to throw one heck of a party!

Whether it’s my annual Superbowl or Christmas/Birthday Cocktail Party, or just a random football watch party, I go all out on the food and fun!

Cheesy Taco Sausage Balls Recipe

The weekend before Halloween I threw a pumpkin carving and football watch party, complete with tons of new dishes for my friends to try!

The boyfriend requested meatballs, so I came up with these Cheesy Taco Sausage Balls. In the past, Gluten Free Sweet Potato Sausage Balls and Sausage Stuffing Balls have been two of the most requested recipes on the blog to make for parties, so I figured I’d stick with the sausage ball trend in this new, fun, spicy recipe!

Cheesy Taco Sausage Balls Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork sausage*
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup spicy cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 4 oz diced green chilies
  • ¼ cup taco seasoning (←click link for homemade recipe)
  • 12 oz hot sauce

*I used 1 lb. hot pork sausage & 1 lb. pork chorizo sausage. For much less spicy meatballs, go with 2 lb. mild pork sausage, for slightly less spicy, go with 1 lb. hot or chorizo and 1 lb. mild.

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Combine the sausage, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green chilies and taco seasoning in a large bowl.

Bake for 15-18 minutes.

I divided the sausage balls into two dishes. I baked these 5 up to photograph for this lovely recipe on the blog, then baked about a dozen in another dish for the party. They can easily all be baked in the same dish, or divided into two, whatever works best for you!

♣ Vegetarian Option: Substitute 2 lbs soyrizo for the sausage to make this recipe vegetarian.

♦ Gluten Free Option: This recipe is gluten-free if the sausage, hot sauce and taco seasoning used are gluten free. The hot sauce and homemade taco seasoning I used in this recipe are gluten-free, yet Jimmy Dean Sausage has not been verified as gluten-free, although many other brands are, such as Farmer John Chorizo.
