When you think about two of the most popular breakfast foods of all time, Cinnamon Rolls and French Toast, you probably don’t think gluten free! But with the help of my friends at All But Gluten, I’ve not only combined the two delicious breakfast dishes, I’ve also made them gluten free!
Layers of soft All But Gluten white bread, with buttery cinnamon sugar filling, combined with a vanilla cinnamon french toast batter and topped with sweet, creamy icing, you really can’t go wrong with this new twist on two classic breakfast favorites!
- 1 loaf (12 slices) All But Gluten White Bread
- ½ tbsp + ½ tsp cinnamon (divided)
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 eggs (whisked)
- ½ cup + 1 tbsp milk (divided)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Preheat the oven to 375°.
Slice the crusts from the bread, then roll the bread thin with a rolling pin.
Combine ½ tbsp cinnamon and the sugar in a small bowl.
Spread the butter onto the slices of bread, then sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar.
Fold each slice of bread in half and place in a pie plate (or small baking dish).
Combine the eggs, ½ cup milk, ½ tsp cinnamon and vanilla in a small bowl.
Pour the mixture over the “cinnamon roll” bread, making sure all of the bread is covered.
Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Combine the powdered sugar and 1 tbsp milk. Drizzle over the baked cinnamon roll french toast.
This picture just screams yum, yum, yum, get in my belly you cinnamon sugar scrumptiousness! Ok, well the picture can’t really talk, but if it could, that’s what it would say 😉
Who says you can’t have your favorite breakfast treats on a gluten free diet? This dish says no way to that idea!
The All But Gluten bread is perfect for this dish because it’s soft and fluffy, not hard and crumbly, perfect for folding in all of the cinnamon-sugar goodness and soaking in all of the french toast batter deliciousness!
This Sunday is Father’s Day, and nothing says “I love you Dad” more than some french toast, cinnamon roll goodness, so start your Dad’s day off right with this new breakfast treat!
Remember that All But Gluten bread is sold in the fresh bakery section of your grocery store, not the freezer section. Yay for not having to de-thaw your bread!
