Last week San Diego was transformed for the annual San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival. An event that brings together wine, food, beer, cheese, tacos and all that’s good in life!
On Tuesday night I kicked off the festival at the Fish Tacos and Craft Beers Event featuring the Fish Taco TKO Competition, it also happened to be my sweet friend Lan’s birthday, as seen in the picture above.
Sandbar ended up claiming the “top taco” prize that night with their delicious fish taco! Check out their delicious creation front and center below!
In second place was The Blind Burro with their innovative shrimp taco wrapped in jicama instead of a tortilla. It was a personal favorite, as well as a favorite with my group of friends. I’ll definitely be trying their “jicama tortilla” idea in a new recipe soon!
In addition to tacos, each exhibitor had a tasty beer to go with their taco, because what’s better than washing down a spicy, scrumptious taco than with an ice cold beer?
The event was a huge success and so much fun! I couldn’t ask for a better time than a night filled with tacos, beer and great friends!
On Friday night, I switched gears from tacos and beer to wine and cheese at the Reserve and New Release Wine Tasting Event.
With dozens upon dozens of wineries represented I got to try many new wines for the first time! This Canoe Ridge Cab was one of my favorites!
I also tried this Bodegas Carrau Amat which was named “1 of the 1001 Wines You Must Taste Before You Die”. I guess I only have 1,000 to go now! 😉
They also had delicious meats and cheeses to pair with the wines. And we all know that I love nothing more than a great cheese plate!
Overall, I had a ton of fun at both festival events and can’t wait for the 2014 San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival!
