OMG, I can’t get enough of this Tomato Basil Bruschetta! What started as a delicious Italian appetizer, served on a toasted baguette, has transformed into an entire category of recipes on the blog. This category includes some of the most popular recipes I’ve ever made!

Tomato Basil Bruschetta is fresh, light and flavorful. It’s a seriously delicious topping for so many dishes. I love to make a big bowl of it over the weekend and use it to top recipes throughout the week!

It’s hard to get Kurt excited about seafood recipes. After I made this baked salmon recipe, he said that he would gladly eat it every week. I’d definitely say that’s a win in my book! Since it only takes 29 minutes to make, this is the perfect healthy weeknight meal!

Gluten Free General Tso’s Chicken

Gluten Free General Tso Chicken is easy to make in only 20 minutes! This recipe is healthy & even better than Chinese takeout with the most delicious General Tso sauce!

In the blogging world, I’d say that I’m most known for my recipes with buffalo sauce. But coming in at a close second are my gluten free Chinese recipes!

Around the same time I started blogging, my brother was diagnosed with celiac disease. He asked me to recreate some of his Chinese food favorites to make them gluten free.

Being the wonderful sister that I am (haha!) I obliged and created some of his favorite recipes. This Gluten Free Orange Chicken is his all-time favorite. But these recipes for Gluten Free Honey Chicken and Gluten Free General Tso Chicken, both come in at a close second!

Typically, general tso’s consists of battered, deep fried chicken thighs, covered in hoisin sauce. I made this recipe healthy and gluten free by lightly pan frying the chicken, instead of deep frying it. I also used chicken breasts instead of chicken thighs.

Chicken breast meat is lower in calories and fat, creating a healthier dish. I switched up the general tso sauce recipe to give it a similar taste to hoisin without the gluten.

The sauce is slightly spicy and so delicious! It’s so good that I’ve also used it to make General Tso’s Vegetarian Noodle Stir Fry and General Tso’s Chicken Wings.

You can actually double, or triple, the sauce ingredients in this recipe. Keep the extra sauce on hand to make more chicken, noodle stir fry or chicken wings throughout the week. The sauce will keep in a sealed container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.

Crock pot soups are my jam! They’re so easy to toss together in the morning and such a delicious dinner to come home to!

Taco Soup is one of my childhood favorites, that I continue to make over and over again! And Kurt requests this French Onion Meatball Soup almost every week. But when it comes to a soup that’s light and flavorful, this Turkey Kale Soup is my go-to!

Lean ground turkey, fresh kale, diced onions and cannellini beans keep this soup light and healthy. While oregano, fennel seeds, garlic, salt and pepper add delicious flavor!

Serving this soup with a warm and crusty baguette for dipping is totally optional, but highly recommended!

This Chinese Honey Chicken Recipe is healthier and better than takeout. It’s easy to make at home in only 29 minutes, and it’s one of the best gluten free recipes ever!

A lot of inspiration for new recipe creation comes from suggestions by friends or family members. “Oh hey, I really love this dish, but can you make it healthier?” or “I’ve been looking for a good recipe for this or that.”

When it comes to gluten free recipe inspiration, I always turn to my brother, Tyler. He is gluten-intolerant and my original inspiration for adding gluten free recipes to the blog!

I’ve been making my own Taco Seasoning for years, but lately I’ve started filling my pantry with all of my favorite seasoning blends.

From French Onion Dip Mix and Pumpkin Pie Spice to Fajita Seasoning and Italian Seasoning, I keep all of these seasoning mixes on hand to easily add to recipes.

Slow Cooker Black Pepper Beef and Broccoli

The best black pepper beef and broccoli recipe is made in a crockpot with a delicious Chinese black pepper sauce, then tossed with noodles for a simple slow cooker meal that only takes 10 minutes of prep time!

It’s hard to pick the best dish at Tasty Noodle House, our favorite Chinese restaurant in San Diego, but their Black Pepper Beef & Noodles is definitely in the top 3!

While I’ve already recreated some of our favorite Chinese chicken dishes, like Orange Chicken, Honey Chicken and Chinese Lettuce Wraps, it was about time I recreated our favorite Chinese beef dish!

I decided to slow cook the beef in the Chinese black pepper sauce, so that the beef would be extremely tender, with a deep, rich flavor. There’s also no need to marinate the meat, as it cooks in the sauce for hours, so it soaks in all of the sauce!

The great thing is, you can set it and forget it, then toss the noodles and broccoli in at the end.

The sauce will cook the noodles right in the crock pot and the broccoli will be steamed in the slow cooker, so there’s no need for extra pots or pans!

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Make your own taco seasoning at home to use on chicken or ground beef tacos, in taco soup or taco spaghetti! It’s easy to triple the recipe and store it in a mason jar in the pantry until ready to use. This recipe is mild, gluten free, preservative free and Whole 30 compliant!

I’ve been making this homemade taco seasoning for years. I use it in Taco Soup, Buffalo Taco Spaghetti, Taco Croissants, simple ground beef tacos and so many other recipes!

I always make a big batch to keep on hand, along with my homemade Italian SeasoningFrench Onion Dip Mix and Fajita Seasoning.

The seasoning mixes are stored in half pint mason jars in the pantry, so they’re always ready to use when I need them for a recipe.

Over the years I’ve turned hundreds of friends and family members on to the deliciousness that is a Shishito Pepper! Ok, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but lets just say I’ve introduced a lot of people to these amazing little peppers and everyone has loved them!

What are shishito peppers?

Shishito peppers are a sweet pepper from East Asia, often served as a starter at popular sushi restaurants such as Nobu, Ra and Katsuya. The fun thing about these peppers is that they’re a mild, sweet pepper, yet about one in every ten is spicy!  Surprise!

I call them the “Russian roulette” of peppers because you never know when you’re going to get a spicy one!

Up until a couple of years ago, I was only able to find fresh shishitos at the Asian markets around San Diego. Now I see them at most major grocery stores, including Sprouts and Trader Joe’s.

This turkey bolognese has only 262 calories and 5 grams fat per serving, while it boasts 31 grams of protein per serving. (This recipe makes 4 servings!)

The sauce can be served with traditional pasta, or switch it up and serve the sauce over roasted spaghetti squash or sautéed zucchini noodles to keep it low carb and gluten free!

Man, oh man, the last month has been absolutely insane! I started the moving process at the beginning of August and after 3 weeks I was totally moved-in. I’m now officially living in my new little beach house with the worlds best boyfriend! (I might be slightly biased! 😉 )

Of course, two days later was the boyfriends birthday, so that entire weekend was spent at Dave Matthews Band Concerts, steak dinners, country bars and beach picnics!

Two days after that, I was cooking and Snapchatting live from the Cox Smart Home event. It was a super cool event showing how to use their Gigablast High Speed Internet throughout your home using smart appliances.

I was, of course, using their internet to post live from the event. I was also feeding the attendees delicious Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Fig & Brie Puff Pastry Bites and Antipasto Skewers.

Once I wrapped that event up, two days later I was hanging out on San Diego 6 News sharing my favorite recipes for game day!

Then it was Labor Day weekend and college football of course!

So now, finally this week, I’m back in the kitchen cooking up new recipes in my new kitchen! This new kitchen also happens to be the worlds smallest kitchen!  (Y’all pray for me for the next 6 months while I cook in this teeny tiny kitchen while we look for a house to buy!)

With a new smaller kitchen, I’m trying to keep the dishes to a minimum. This means more One Pot Dishes than ever coming your way, starting with this scrumptious One Pot Sweet & Sour Chicken Fried Rice!
