Homemade Corned Beef  (From Scratch)

Prepare corned beef seasoning. Click the link below for the recipe.

Boil water, curing salt, pickling salt, sugar, garlic and corned beef seasoning.

Cool the liquid, then pour it over a brisket to brine for 5-7 days.

After brining, either cook the brisket in the oven or slow cooker. In the oven, season the brisket in a large dutch oven.

Cover with broth, or broth + beer.

Add potatoes, onions and carrots. Bring the liquid to a boil on the stove, then transfer to the oven to cook.

Cook for 4 hours.

In a slow cooker, season the brisket.

Cover with beef broth.

Add potatoes, onions and carrots. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.

Remove the brisket and let it rest before slicing it against the grain.

Serve with the potatoes and carrots, and steamed cabbage.
