Ingredients you'll need

Cook onions and garlic in butter.

Add flour.

Stir to combine everything.

Add chicken broth and stir everything together.

Pour in half-and-half.

Season with salt, pepper and thyme.

Stir to combine, then remove from the heat.

Thinly slice gold potatoes.

Place a third of the potatoes in the bottom of a casserole dish.

Season with salt and pour a third of the creamy sauce over the potatoes.

Repeat with the remaining two layers of potatoes and sauce. Cover with foil and bake the potatoes.

Uncover and broil for 2-3 minutes at the end of the cooking time to brown the potatoes on top.
