¼cupdried guajillo chili powder, or New Mexico chili powder
¼cupchipotle chili powder
2tablespoonsonion powder
2tablespoonsgarlic powder
1tablespoondried arbol chili powder, or cayenne pepper
2teaspoonssalt
2teaspoonsblack pepper
2teaspoonsMexican oregano
1teaspoonsmoked paprika
1teaspoonground cumin
½teaspoonground cloves
½teaspoonground cinnamon
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Store in the pantry for up to 6 months.
Notes
Spice level: this seasoning blend is somewhere medium-to-spicy, depending on your spice tolerance. If you want to reduce the spice level, take the arbol chili powder from 1 tablespoon down to 1 teaspoon. If you want to make a mild birria seasoning, replace the arbol chili powder with more guajillo chili powder which has a mild spice level.
