Add the apples to a greased 9 inch by 13 inch baking dish. Combine the melted butter with 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice and pour this mixture over the apples.
In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, and 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, fold in the cold butter and mix until a crumble forms.
Sprinkle the crumble over the apples. Place in the oven to bake for 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For the apples, I recommend granny smith apples for this recipe. They’re the best apples for baking due to their firm texture. You could also use pink lady, honeycrisp, fuji, golden delicious, or braeburn apples.
