This healthy, vegan and gluten free Green Tahini Sauce Recipe is perfect for topping buddha bowls, chicken and fish, or serve it as a dip with veggies!
Trader Joe’s Green Tahini Sauce and dip, a delicious and healthy staple on my Trader Joe’s shopping list that has magically disappeared from my local store. Say what?! I know, the travesty is real y’all!
I went to pick up a tub of this delicious sauce last week to top my Grilled Veggie Green Buddha Bowls and there was none to be found. It’s slot in the refrigerator section wasn’t even there anymore.
Could this be another delicious Trader Joe’s product gone into retirement? I don’t know, but just in case, I’m now prepared to make my own at home!
Luckily, this green tahini sauce is so easy to make at home!
Seriously just toss all of the ingredients in a food processor or blender, puree for a few seconds and you’ve got a delicious sauce to top chicken, salmon or buddha bowls.
It’s also the perfect dip to serve as an appetizer or eat as a snack with veggies, like carrots and celery.
Green Tahini Sauce Ingredients

- ¾ cup Italian parsley
- ¼ cup cilantro

- ¼ cup lemon juice
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ½ cup water
Green Tahini Sauce Instructions
Add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor.
Puree until smooth and creamy.

The tahini gives the sauce a slight nuttiness, while all of the greens fill the sauce with a light, fresh flavor.
I’ve been dipping up this sauce with baby carrots ever since I made it. A seriously healthy snack with a ton of flavor!

How long should this last once it’s in the fridge?
Hi. I too have become addicted to the luscious green tahini from Trader Joe’s and have kept some in my freezer using it but by bit. After finding your recipe I checked the label and it has two items you’ve omitted. If you want it to taste more like the store recipe add fresh dill and mint. Those are listed after parley but before cilantro, I’m not sure what that means for ratios. Thanks!
I was addicted the moment I tasted green tahini and like yourself was bummed when it disappeared from the shelves here in Seattle. It became my go to sauce for just about every vegetable…simply steam and toss in green tahini…just couldn’t get enough of it!
I googled ‘green tahini’ and low and behold I found your recipe. Thanks a lot!
I’m saved…
BTW…my local store said it was still on the ‘order’ list but they were having stabilization problems. It could reappear yet.
