  1. The sweet heat makes a bold impression! The combination of spicy chicken and hot honey delivers that irresistible sweet-and-spicy flavor, making it an exciting spin on a classic cheesy dip.
  2. It’s an easy recipe with minimal prep time! You only need 10 minutes to assemble the dish. It feels impressive without requiring a lot of time or effort, making it perfect for busy hosts!
  3. It’s ultra-cheesy and scoopable! Melty cheese, tender chicken, and a creamy base create a rich, crowd-pleasing dip that’s perfect for chips, crackers, or veggies.

Ingredients

Here I explain the best ingredients for this hot honey chicken dip recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For the exact ingredient measurements, see the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Cooked, shredded chicken – I recommend using cooked chicken pulled from a rotisserie chicken. This is what helps this recipe come together so quickly! If you want to cook chicken breasts at home, you can use this recipe for Instant Pot Shredded Chicken and make it up to 3 days before you prepare the dip.
  • Hot honey –  for this recipe you can purchase prepared hot honey at the grocery store, or you can make your own at home by combining honey and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce.
  • Cream cheese
  • Chicken wing seasoning – this seasoning blend is made up of 6 simple spices that you probably already have in your pantry. It includes salt, chili powder, smoked paprika, onion powder and garlic powder. You can adjust the amount of cayenne pepper in the seasoning mix, depending on which spice level you like. It’s easy to mix up in 5 minutes and you can store it in the pantry for up to 6 months.
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Green onions and pickles (optional) – I love the crunch of the green onions, and the tangy bite of the pickles on top of this dip, but both are optional toppings.

Instructions

I’ve included step by step photos below to make this recipe super easy to follow at home. For the full detailed recipe instructions, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  1. Combine the ingredients. In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, hot honey, cooked, shredded chicken and chicken wing seasoning. Stir until you have a creamy mixture.
  2. Assemble the dip for baking. Transfer the creamy dip into a 9 inch by 13 inch baking dish, or something of similar size. A 12 inch oven-safe skillet will also work. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Bake the dip. Place in a preheated 350°F oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  4. Top the dip. Remove the dip from the oven and top with diced green onions and chopped pickles. (This step is optional.)

This dip is easy to scoop up with tortilla chips, a sliced baguette, slices of bell pepper, celery sticks, or baby carrots.

Hot Honey Chicken Dip

Sweet, spicy, and ultra-creamy, this Nashville Hot Chicken Dip is packed with tender chicken, melty cheese, and hot honey flavor. Easy to make in 30 minutes with just 6 ingredients, it's perfect for game day or parties!

Ingredients

Optional Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons green onions, diced
  • 2 tablespoons pickles, chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Add the cooked, shredded chicken, hot honey, softened cream cheese, and chicken wing seasoning to a large bowl. Stir until all of the ingredients are combined.
  • Spread this mixture in the bottom of a 9 inch x 13 inch baking dish, or something of similar size. A 12 inch oven-safe skillet will also work.
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Place in the oven to bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and top with diced green onions or chopped pickles, if you'd like, then serve immediately for the best flavor.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, vegetables, or a sliced baguette for dipping.

Notes

  • Always be sure to remove the cream cheese from the fridge at least 30 minutes before starting this recipe so it will soften. If you forget, you can microwave it for 30 seconds to soften.
  • Leftover hot honey chicken dip will stay good in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can reheat a small portion in a bowl in the microwave for 90 seconds. To reheat a large portion of the dip, I recommend placing the dip in an oven-safe dish, covering it with foil and reheating in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
  • You can assemble the hot chicken dip ahead of time, cover it, and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to bake and serve it. This is great for prepping up to 48 hours before a party.
  • To make this recipe in a Crock Pot, combine the chicken, cream cheese, hot honey, and chicken wing seasoning. Transfer it to a Crock Pot, then top with the shredded cheddar cheese. Cook on low for 1-2 hours, then turn the Crock Pot to warm. The dip can set in the Crock Pot on warm for up to 6 hours.
