Sparkling Grapefruit Watermelon Sangria is a light and refreshing cocktail, perfect for a warm summer day or holidays, like Valentine’s Day or 4th of July!
This morning I went to visit my friends at CW 6 San Diego, to show them how to cook up a few of my favorite recipes for Valentine’s Day!
I shared my Heart Shaped Strawberry Cheesecake Puff Pastry Pies, Red Velvet Brookies and Heart Shaped Pizza, but I also thought the segment could use a sparkling Valentine’s Day beverage, so I came up with this Sparkling Grapefruit Watermelon Sangria recipe!
This sangria is delicious, refreshing, and the perfect shade of pink for Valentine’s Day! I also added heart shaped pieces of watermelon, to give it that over-the-top Valentine’s Day cuteness!
Sparkling Grapefruit Watermelon Sangria Ingredients
- ½ grapefruit (sliced)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 bottle (750 mL) prosecco
- 1 bottle (750 mL) sauvignon blanc
- 1 cup grapefruit juice
- 1 cup watermelon (cut into heart shapes)
- 1 cup strawberries (stems removed, sliced in half)
- 1 cup club soda
Sparkling Grapefruit Watermelon Sangria Instructions
Place the grapefruit slices in the bottom of a large pitcher. Add the sugar and muddle.
Pour the prosecco, sauvignon blanc and grapefruit juice into the pitcher.
Stir to combine.
To cut the watermelon into heart shapes, simply cut the watermelon into triangle pieces, then slice a small section out of the top of the triangle. Slice just a small amount from the top two corners to make a rounded corner.
Voila! Heart shaped watermelon pieces for your sangria!
Add the watermelon and strawberries to the sangria.
Refrigerate for at least one hour. Add the club soda before serving.
This sparkling grapefruit watermelon sangria is not only perfect for Valentine’s Day, it’s a refreshing cocktail that I’ll definitely be sipping on all spring and summer!
