This patty melt recipe with a taco twist combines taco seasoned ground turkey, green chilies, spicy cheddar & jalapeño ranch for one scrumptious sandwich!
When was the last time you had a patty melt? Seriously, for me, it had been years, until I made this sandwich earlier this week!
A traditional patty melt consists of a grilled burger patty, cheese and caramelized onions sandwiched between two slices of bread.
For my “Bond Girl Twist” on the recipe, I decided to make a Mexican style patty melt filled with a grilled taco seasoned turkey burger patty, Habanero Cheddar Cheese and Green Chilies.
This patty melt is packed with flavor and spice, yet it’s still totally simple to make!
In under 30 minutes, this recipe is dinner on the table!
Taco Turkey Patty Melt Ingredients
- 1 lb. taco seasoned ground turkey
- 8 slices bread
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp jalapeño ranch dressing
- 4 oz can diced green chilies
- 2 cups spicy cheddar cheese (shredded)
Taco Turkey Patty Melt Instructions
Form the taco seasoned ground turkey into 4 patties. Grill or cook the burgers on the stove top, 6-8 minutes per side.
Spread ½ tbsp butter on one side of each slice of bread. Spread ½ tbsp dressing on the other side.
Add a burger patty on top of the dressing on half of the slices of bread, top each with 2 tbsp green chilies and ½ cup of cheese.
Top with another slice of buttered & dressed bread.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the skillet is warm, place the sandwiches in the skillet and grill for 3-4 minutes per side.
The creaminess of the dressing and the melted cheese combined with the flavorful taco seasoned turkey burger, all sandwiched between two slices of buttery toasted bread, serrrrrriously, it’s the bomb.com!
What are your dinner plans tonight? If you just said “Taco Turkey Patty Melts” I wouldn’t blame you! 😉

Family fave fo sho! I might have to go “not spicy” Cheddar for my kiddos, but around here finding a good cheddar isn’t hard 🙂
Haha, yeah, I love spicy, and that Habanero Cheddar sure does have a kick! This recipe would also be great with Cabot Pepper Jack for a little less spice, unfortunately that’s hard to come by out West! Enjoy 🙂
