Combine two appetizer favorites into one with jalapeno popper pigs in a blanket! Roasted jalapenos are filled with cheese and little smokies, then wrapped in crescent rolls for an easy recipe that is sure to impress your friends!
One of my favorite things to do when creating new recipes is to combine two favorite dishes into one amazing new dish!
Pigs in a blanket + jalapeno poppers = Jalapeno Popper Pigs in a Blanket
I was inspired to make this recipe after seeing something similar on a menu in Washington DC at Fat Pete’s BBQ. Their version featured jalapenos, stuffed with cream cheese, topped with a little smokie, then wrapped in bacon.
I decided to go more traditional with my pigs in a blanket and wrap the entire thing in crescent rolls, but I have no doubt that bacon would also be an amazing choice!
The real debate was what to call this little appetizer, the best idea I heard from friends was “Pigs in a Popper”, so cute and perfect for this appetizer mash-up!

Savory mini pies, also known as hand pies or picnic pies, are filled with a delicious vegetarian mixture of spinach and feta cheese and are perfect for serving as an appetizer, picnic snack or party hors d’oeuvre!
Raise your hand if you love picnics! Living in San Diego with almost perfect weather year-round, we love doing picnics at the beach and the parks in our neighborhood.
Sometimes, we wrap up Chicken Fajita Burritos and take those on our picnic (so very So Cal of us!), other times we just grab a baguette, cheese, crackers and fruit and make it a charcuterie plate picnic and sometimes we invite friends and make it a potluck picnic, which is perfect for bringing these mini pies, also known as picnic pies (fitting!) or hand pies. Basically they’re an individual, hand-held pie that’s easy to transport!
Blistered Shishito Peppers sauteed in Soy Ginger Sauce are an Asian restaurant favorite that you can now easily make at home with this simple 20 minute recipe!
Over the years I’ve turned hundreds of friends and family members on to the deliciousness that is a Shishito Pepper! Ok, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but lets just say I’ve introduced a lot of people to these amazing little peppers and everyone has loved them!
What are shishito peppers?
Shishito peppers are a sweet pepper from East Asia, often served as a starter at popular sushi restaurants such as Nobu, Ra and Katsuya. The fun thing about these peppers is that they’re a mild, sweet pepper, yet about one in every ten is spicy! Surprise!
I call them the “Russian roulette” of peppers because you never know when you’re going to get a spicy one!
Up until a couple of years ago, I was only able to find fresh shishitos at the Asian markets around San Diego. Now I see them at most major grocery stores, including Sprouts and Trader Joe’s.
Grilled romaine topped with fresh, juicy tomatoes, black beans, grilled corn and peppers, creamy avocado, crispy tortillas and a delicious honey lime dressing creates the most flavorful chopped salad, that’s also vegetarian & gluten free!

See, I was totally serious about all of the things on top of my salads! And this Grilled Romaine Salad is no exception to the rule, it’s actually the most topped salad of them all, piled high with juicy tomatoes, grilled corn, crispy tortilla strips, creamy goat cheese, fresh avocado, protein rich black beans and roasted bell peppers and jalapenos.

A couple of weeks ago our awesome neighbors invited us over for the first neighborhood BBQ of spring and made these delicious grilled stuffed peppers with a Jalapeno Artichoke Dip from Costco.
I was inspired and came home to make my own Jalapeno Artichoke Dip Stuffed Peppers with an easy, homemade dip recipe! I then proceeded to make these peppers three different times in two weeks, in Oklahoma, on Cinco De Mayo and to make and share on the blog.
They’re such an easy summer party appetizer to prep ahead of time and toss on the grill when guests begin to arrive!
These German inspired Cabbage Rolls are filled with ground pork and sauerkraut, then simmered in a garlic onion broth for an amazingly flavorful recipe!
This recipe is very special for several reasons, it’s the first recipe photographed in my new house (yay!), it was inspired by my boyfriends love of cabbage rolls and it’s part of the “Food Blogger Olympics”, an initiative started by my friend Amy to celebrate the upcoming Winter Olympic Games!
For the “Food Blogger Olympics”, each blogger picked a country and created recipes inspired by that countries cuisine. I picked Germany because that’s where my boyfriend Kurt’s family is from and he loves German food. In the 3 years we’ve been together, I’ve learned a lot about German cuisine and decided it was time to spread my knowledge on the blog!

Sous vide burger sliders are easy to make, with very little prep, and will result in the most flavorful, juicy burgers you’ve ever had!
Last week I joined my friends at Cox Communications in Baton Rouge for another “Cox Smart Home” event. I spent the day in the kitchen sharing tips and tricks for how to make your kitchen “smart” by incorporating WiFi enabled devices and appliances into your cooking.
One of the WiFi enabled devices in the smart home kitchen was the Anova WiFi enabled sous vide. I used this device at past events to make Steak Crostini‘s to share with guests of the event, but this time I decided to switch things up!
Since it is football season in Baton Rouge, I decided to serve some of my favorite game day recipes, like Slow Cooker Green Chili Queso Dip and Football Shaped Nutella Rice Krispie Treats. I then decided to make sliders in the sous vide, because they’re perfect for tailgating! Prep the sliders and toss them in the sous vide, remove them from the sous vide, take them to the tailgate, then give them a quick sear on the grill and you’ve got the most delicious and juicy sliders you’ve ever had in your life!

Mouth watering garlic knots are filled with cheese and smothered in buffalo sauce in this delicious recipe for cheesy garlic knots, perfect as an appetizer or party snack!
Garlic knots, the delicious creation that twists up pizza dough and smothers it in garlic butter, creating one of the most delicious snacks ever!
When I lived downtown San Diego, I used to frequent a little pizza shop that sold garlic knots in a bag by the half dozen. My friends would order pizza slices, I would order a dozen garlic knots and literally just eat them out of the bag, like the civilized food blogger I am! 😉
Needless to say, I’ve had a long standing love affair with garlic knots and today I made them even better by filling them with cheese and smothering them in buffalo sauce, creating Buffalo Cheesy Garlic Knots, also know as THE MOST DELICIOUS SNACK EVER!

I made this recipe three times 4th of July weekend and by the third time, I learned my lesson and doubled the recipe!

For today’s post, I partnered up with my friends at Sabra Hummus to share this tasty Mediterranean platter filled with grilled vegetables and Sabra Hummus!
One of my favorite things about grilling is the camaraderie around it. You get your friends and family together, fire up the grill and spend all day outside soaking up the sun with wonderful conversation and great food.
Between the burgers and brats, it’s time for the “unofficial meal” of the day, and that’s where Sabra Hummus, and this Mediterranean Grilled Vegetable Platter comes into play!

I went to pick up a tub of this delicious sauce last week to top my Grilled Veggie Green Buddha Bowls and there was none to be found. It’s slot in the refrigerator section wasn’t even there anymore. Could this be another delicious Trader Joe’s product gone into retirement? I don’t know, but just in case, I’m now prepared to make my own at home!
Luckily, this green tahini sauce is so easy to make at home!
A toasted baguette is topped with goat cheese, balsamic roasted beets, fresh basil & balsamic reduction in this vegetarian Beet Bruschetta recipe that’s perfect for Spring!
Easter is just a couple of weeks away and as I thought about new recipes for the holiday, all I kept thinking about was making a spring version of my very popular Butternut Squash Bruschetta Recipe!
That bruschetta appetizer is a HUGE HIT around the fall holidays, so I knew I had to make a spring version for Easer.
I decided to roast up beets instead of butternut squash, and toss in fresh basil instead of sage. Instead of ricotta, I used goat cheese (because I love the way it pairs with beets!) but I kept the most important piece of the bruschetta in tact, the almighty balsamic reduction drizzle at the end that adds a touch of sweetness and a beautiful final presentation!

Where do my recipe ideas come from? A question I am asked quite regularly, and to be honest, I always answer the same, the ideas come from everywhere!
Sometimes it’s recipe inspiration from a restaurant, or recent trip, sometimes it’s a recipe twist on an old family favorite. Sometimes it’s a direct request from the boyfriend, i.e. Swedish Meatballs!
Fresh bruschetta combined with melted, creamy cheeses makes for one delicious bruschetta cheese dip recipe, made in only 10 minutes, perfect as a party appetizer!
This recipe is the result of an almost accident.
When I was home over the holidays, my Dad was making cheese dip (Velvetta + Rotel, an Oklahoma staple when eating Tex-Mex!), he reached in the refrigerator to grab a tupperware container of rotel and he accidentally grabbed the tupperware of leftover bruschetta.
He realized before he actually added it to the bowl of Velvetta, but then I got an idea. What if I made an Italian version of “cheese dip” with bruschetta instead of Rotel and a combination of cream cheese and mozzarella instead of Velvetta?
Well, I tried this bruschetta cheese dip recipe idea and I loved it, so today I’m sharing it with you!

The original idea came after Thanksgiving when I still had Thanksgiving leftover recipe ideas on my mind, but then as my annual holiday party came closer last weekend, I started to think that they would be the perfect appetizer for my party.
Mini Buffalo Chicken Tostadas are a quick and easy appetizer recipe to whip up for a party that is sure to be a crowd favorite!
When it comes to entertaining around the holidays, I’m the hostess with the mostest!
Since my birthday happens to fall in the same month as Christmas, Hanukkah, Chrismukkah and New Years Eve, I throw one epic birthday/holiday party to celebrate everything!
That party just so happens to have been this past weekend, and quite the party it was! From champagne toasts, to visits from Santa, to exhilarating games of Cards Against Humanity and Heads Up! But let’s be honest, the most exciting part of the party was the food!
Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, these Gluten Free Baked Cheese Bites are perfect for parties & much healthier than fried cheese sticks!
How delicious are fried cheese sticks?! Oozing with cheese on the inside and crispy on the outside, totally tasty, but totally not healthy, so I took this appetizer and made it healthier and gluten-free!
This recipe puts a creamy, cheesy baked pasta twist on the classic chicken caesar salad! Pasta cups are the perfect appetizer for dinner or a party!
What’s the perfect way to start an Italian dinner party? Pasta, a cheese plate, a caesar salad? How about we combine all of those into one really delicious appetizer! That’s exactly what I did here in these Chicken Caesar Baked Pasta Cups!

Let me start off with a big WELCOME to the new WhitneyBond.com! I’m so excited that you’re here!
If you’ve been visiting LittleLeopardBook.com for the last 4 years you might have noticed that over the weekend the website began redirecting all LLB links to WhitneyBond.com and the header on the website changed from “LittleLeopardBook.com – Cooking Secrets of Whitney Bond” to “WhitneyBond.com – Traditional Recipes With A Bond Girl Twist!”
I wrote a post last week talking all about the rebranding and I’m so excited that it’s all happening now!
Just in case you missed the post, don’t worry, nothing is changing except for the name! You can still expect delicious new recipes coming at you every week on WhitneyBond.com, starting with these scrumptious Sloppy Joe Pizza Rolls, combining two of my childhood favorites!
This recipe took a couple of tries to perfect (you’ll see three lessons I learned throughout the recipe post!), but was well worth the time and effort to make it an absolutely amazing first recipe post on the new WhitneyBond.com!
This simple side dish or appetizer combines classic Thanksgiving flavors like cranberry & sweet potatoes into tart, sweet & salty sweet potato skins.
It’s day three of “Thanksgiving Week” on the blog and to say I’m a big fan of sweet potatoes would be a total understatement. Although this wasn’t always the case.
Growing up in “meat and potatoes land”, AKA Oklahoma, I pretty much stuck with the good ‘ol russet potato. Baked, fried, mashed, anyway it was cooked I liked it, but sweet potatoes were something I just wasn’t into. This was until I got older, and much, much wiser and realized how amazing they are!
Now, one of my favorite ways to eat sweet potatoes are sweet potato skins. I’ve filled them with Turkey Chili for game day and last Thanksgiving I filled them with Sage Pesto and Bacon, YUM!
Sweet & spicy green chili chicken is added to these rolled tacos with two different kinds of cheeses & baked up for a crispy treat, perfect for game day!
Football season is officially here!!!
My beloved Oklahoma Sooners took the field for their first game of the season on Saturday and put up an impressive 48 points against Louisiana Tech. In less than a week my San Diego Chargers will take the field against Arizona for their first regular season game.
These Mini Potato Skins are the perfect tray passed appetizer for any party. All the delicious ingredients of potato skins in a bite sized recipe!
Potato Skins are a game-day classic and these bite-sized versions are perfect for a Super Bowl Party! Their bite-size-ness makes them easier to eat with less mess and no plates needed! (Pretty sure I just made up the word “bite-size-ness”, but I like it!)
Making a cheese ball at home is simple! Made with only 4 ingredients, this Cranberry Goat Cheese Ball is the perfect quick & easy appetizer!
There might be nothing I love more in life than cheese. Ok, maybe my Mom and Dad and the movie Elf, but that’s about it. Everything else comes second to my obsessive love of CHEESE!
For my annual Christmas Birthday Cocktail Party I decided to make this Buffalo Cheese Ball. I then decided that the savory cheese ball needed a sweeter counterpart, therefore the Cranberry Goat Cheese Ball was born!
