Hawaiian Turkey Burgers

In this easy burger recipe, homemade turkey burgers are served on Hawaiian hamburger buns, topped with pineapple jalapeno onion relish & pepper jack cheese.

With grilling season under way, all I can think about is what I’m going to grill next!
From Bruschetta Turkey Burgers to Spinach Artichoke Turkey Burgers to these Hawaiian Turkey Burgers, I’m always looking for ways to make burgers just a little bit healthier during swimsuit season, which just so happens to overlap with grilling season!
For this recipe, I topped the turkey burger with a relish made of caramelized onions, pineapple and jalapenos. A delicious combination of sweet, spicy and tropical flavors!
Of course, a Hawaiian Turkey Burger must be served on King’s Hawaiian Hamburger Buns!
Did you know those sweet little rolls you love are also sold as hamburger and hot dog buns? It’s true! I know, life changed, right?!
You’ll definitely want to grab them at the grocery store before whipping these burgers up!
Hawaiian Turkey Burgers Ingredients
- 3 tbsp olive oil (divided)
- 1 cup onion (diced)
- 1 cup fresh pineapple (diced)
- ¼ cup fresh jalapeno (diced)
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ¼ cup green onion (minced)
- 4 slices Pepper Jack cheese
- 4 King’s Hawaiian Sweet Hamburger Buns
Hawaiian Turkey Burgers Instructions
In a medium skillet, heat 2 tbsp olive oil over medium heat.
Add the onion, pineapple and jalapeno.
Cook for 10-12 minutes, or until onions and pineapple are caramelized, stirring often. Set aside until ready to assemble the burgers.
Heat the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat or brush the olive oil onto a heated grill.
Add the ground turkey, sesame oil, onion powder, garlic powder, sea salt and green onion to a large bowl.
Mix the ingredients together, but be sure not to over-mix.
Form the meat into 4 burger patties.
Place patties onto the hot skillet or grill for 7-9 minutes per side.
Two minutes before removing the burgers from the grill, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on top of each burger. Remove the burgers from the grill and place on lightly toasted King’s Hawaiian Hamburger Buns.
Top each burger with a spoonful of the Pineapple Onion Jalapeno Relish.
A little sweet, a little spice, deliciously nice!
