Ingredients
Here I explain the best ingredients for this garlic parmesan chicken skewers recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For the exact ingredient measurements, see the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Chicken – you can make this recipe with boneless, skinless chicken breasts, or chicken thighs. With either one, you’ll want to use a sharp knife to slice the chicken into 1 inch cubes.
- Olive oil
- Chicken seasoning – click the link for my all-purpose chicken seasoning. It’s easy to mix up in 5 minutes with 7 pantry staple herbs and spices, like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. You can also grab a bottle of pre-made chicken or poultry seasoning at the grocery store.
- Garlic parmesan sauce – use the link to the left to make my homemade copycat recipe from Buffalo Wild Wings. It only takes 5 minutes to whip up with mayonnaise, parmesan cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, and seasonings. You can also purchase Buffalo Wild Wings Parmesan Garlic Sauce in a bottle at most major grocery stores, or online.
Instructions
I’ve included step by step photos below to make this recipe super easy to follow at home. For the full detailed recipe instructions, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

- Dice, season, and skewer the chicken. Slice the chicken into one inch cubes. Toss the chicken pieces in olive oil, then in chicken seasoning. Place the chicken on skewers that will fit in your air fryer. You can use metal skewers or wooden skewers. I used sixteen 6 inch bamboo skewers and fit 4 pieces of chicken on each of them.
- Air fry the chicken skewers. Place the chicken skewers in an air fryer basket in a single layer. You may have to do this in two batches. I used a 6 quart Cosori air fryer to make this recipe and was able to fit 8 of the 6-inch skewers in at a time. Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes.
- Sauce the chicken. Open the air fryer, flip the chicken skewers, brush with garlic parmesan sauce, then air fry at 400°F for another 2 minutes. Remove the chicken from the air fryer, brush with the remaining sauce and serve immediately. Optionally top with fresh grated parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley.
If you want to cook the chicken in the oven, instead of the air fryer, preheat the oven to 425°F. Cook the chicken skewers on a sheet pan for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven, flip the skewers, brush with the sauce and place the skewers back in the oven for 5 minutes. Remove, brush with more sauce, and serve.

Ways to serve it
Because these skewers are small and handheld, you can easily serve them as a party appetizer.
You can also serve them as an easy weeknight meal. They’re great on top of a caesar salad, served over rice pilaf, tossed with pasta and more garlic parmesan sauce, or served with a side of mashed potatoes.
You can also add them to a wrap, or sandwich, with fries or potato chips for an easy lunch. These skewers are perfect for meal prepping and can be eaten cold or reheated for just 2 minutes in the air fryer to warm them up.
