There’s nothing better than having the perfect vegetable dip for a party. It’s so easy to mix up the dip, then add it to a tray with a bunch of fresh vegetables. You’ll have a great looking, great tasting, and healthy appetizer to share!

I also love keeping this veggie dip around the house during the week, as a quick afternoon snack, or addition to a wrap at lunchtime. This dip is filled with flavor and it’s so easy to make! You can whip it up on a Sunday, then eat it throughout the week.

You can make it extra thick and creamy with mayonnaise or cream cheese, or keep it simple by just using sour cream. Either way, this veggie dip recipe is creamy, flavorful, and guaranteed to become your new favorite dip for raw or roasted veggies!

Ingredients

  • Sour cream – for a perfectly creamy base for the dip, I always use sour cream. You could also use Greek yogurt for a healthier option.
  • Mayonnaise – for a richer flavored dip, I like to add ½ cup mayonnaise. I’ve also made this recipe with all sour cream and no mayonnaise, so that’s an option if you’d like to make it without mayo. Or you can substitute in 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, instead of the mayonnaise.
  • Fresh dill – I am a huge fan of dill. If you’re not, you can use other fresh herbs, like fresh parsley or cilantro, or you can leave it out, as the vegetable seasoning adds a lot of great herb-forward flavors.
  • Lemon juice – for a bright citrus layer in the dip.
  • Vegetable seasoning – click the link for my easy homemade seasoning mix. It’s made with a combination of dried herbs, like oregano, basil and parsley, with a combination of spices like salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. It’s easy to mix up in less than 5 minutes and you can store it in the pantry for up to 6 months, so you can make it ahead of time.

Instructions

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a large bowl.
  2. Stir to combine everything. Transfer the vegetable dip to the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Recipe tips

  • Always allow the dip to chill before serving. As the dip sits in the refrigerator, all of the ingredients begin to meld together. The flavors are enhanced and you’ll get the best results, even hours after the dip is made!
  • Taste and season! Once you chill the dip, try it out and feel free to add more salt if you’d like.
  • This vegetable dip will last in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. So feel free to make it ahead of time if you’re planning to serve it an event or party.
  • I do not recommend freezing the dip, as sour cream does not freeze well. The dairy will separate when frozen and the texture will not be the same once the dip is defrosted.
  • Add in artichokes or caramelized onions. Add in a can of diced artichoke hearts to make a delicious creamy artichoke dip, or add caramelized onions for a flavorful spin on french onion dip.
  • To spice up the dip, add 1-2 teaspoons of your favorite hot sauce.
  • Don’t like mayonnaise? No problem, use softened cream cheese instead! You can also use 2 cups of sour cream, and omit the mayonnaise completely.
  • This dip is naturally gluten free. Serve with veggies or gluten free crackers for dipping.

Ways to serve it

  • With raw veggies – carrots, celery sticks, bell pepper strips, sweet mini peppers, broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, or sugar snap peas are all delicious dunked in this vegetable dip!
  • With cooked veggies – this dip is also great when paired with roasted or grilled vegetables. Serve it on the side for dipping, or drizzle it over the cooked veggies.
  • With chips – in addition to veggies, ruffled or wavy potato chips, or corn chips are also great in this dip.
  • With crackers – in addition to chips, this dip goes great with crackers. I recommend a thicker cracker that can hold up to a creamy dip, like Triscuit’s or Wheat Thins.
  • With pretzels – dip homemade soft pretzels, or crispy pretzel sticks in this dip.
  • As a wrap, or sandwich spread – spread this delicious dip into a tortilla, or on bread, to add lots of flavor to your favorite wrap or sandwich.
