It’s day two of Thanksgiving Week on the blog, and it just so happens to be #TurkeyTuesday! Ok, I actually just made Turkey Tuesday up, but I think we should totally make it a thing! 😉

It’s so easy to make, with no thawing required! Simply remove it from the outer packaging, cut a few small slits in the cooking bag and pop it in the oven in a roasting pan!

All of the delicious Cajun seasonings are already rubbed on the turkey in the cooking bag, so that’s literally all you have to do!

While the turkey is roasting for about 4 hours, you’ll have plenty of time to prepare these Oven Roasted Cajun Mashed Potatoes!

Instead of boiling the potatoes, like traditional mashed potatoes, these Cajun Mashed Potatoes are made by roasting the potatoes, tossed in cajun seasonings, then mashing them with cream cheese, butter and heavy cream, to create the most flavorful mashed potatoes with a delicious & velvety texture!

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs russet potatoes (peeled & cubed)
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp thyme leaves
  • ½ cup butter (at room temperature)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (cubed) (at room temperature)
  • 2 cups heavy cream (at room temperature)

Preheat the oven to 425°F.

Toss the potatoes and garlic with the olive oil, black pepper, kosher salt, oregano, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper and thyme leaves.

Spread the potatoes into an even layer on a foil-lined baking sheet.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender.

Transfer the potatoes to a large mixing bowl, add the butter, cream cheese and heavy cream. Use an electric hand mixture to mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.

Oven Roasted Cajun Turkey with Roasted Cajun Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

    Oven Roasted Cajun Turkey
  • 1 (13-15 lb) Jennie-O Oven Ready Cajun Style Turkey
  • Roasted Cajun Mashed Potatoes
  • 3 lbs russet potatoes (peeled & cubed)
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp thyme leaves
  • ½ cup butter (at room temperature)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (cubed) (at room temperature)
  • 2 cups heavy cream (at room temperature)

Instructions

    Oven Roasted Cajun Turkey
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Remove the turkey from the outer packaging.
  3. Place in a roasting pan with at least 2 inch high sides.
  4. Cut 6 small slits in the cooking bag and pull the bag away from the turkey.
  5. Place in the oven for 3 hours 30 minutes - 4 hours, or until a meat thermomember reaches 165°F in the breast and 180°F in the thigh.
  6. Let turkey rest 15 minutes in the cooking bag.
  7. Cut open the cooking bag, remove the turkey and slice.
  8. Prepare the gravy package according to instructions on the package.
  9. Roasted Cajun Mashed Potatoes
  10. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  11. Toss the potatoes and garlic with the olive oil, black pepper, kosher salt, oregano, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper and thyme leaves.
