Creamy Nutella and crispy bacon are combined in this easy recipe for the best bacon chocolate chip cookies ever! These sweet treats are fun for parties or Super Bowl Sunday!
While usually I don’t mess with perfection. Last weekend, I was inspired to add bacon to my famous Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies to take to a party.
When a food blogger shows up to a party, people expect them to bring something amazing. If the combo of chocolate chip cookies, bacon and Nutella isn’t amazing, then I don’t know what is!
The combination of sweet and salty is one of my favorites! I love that combo in these Salted Caramel Cashew Cookies. I also love it in these Bacon Wrapped Dates. Are you seeing a trend here? Yes, I do love me some bacon!
Step by step instructions
- Combine flour, salt and baking powder together in a small bowl.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, Nutella, sugar and brown sugar.
- Add vanilla extract, a whole egg and egg yolk to the bowl.
- Combine everything together, then add the flour mixture.
- Fold in semi sweet chocolate chips and cooked, crumbled bacon.
- Note: follow this guide for how to cook bacon in the oven and prepare the bacon before starting the cookie recipe. You’ll need to cook approximately 6 slices of bacon, to end up with 1/2 cup cooked, crumbled bacon.
- Use an ice cream scoop to scoop the cookie dough onto a baking sheet.
- Bake the bacon chocolate chip cookies in a 325°F preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Move to wire racks and allow to cool.
Can you freeze the dough?
Yes you can and I highly recommend it! There’s nothing like craving cookies, then remembering you have bacon chocolate chip cookie dough in the freezer!
To bake the cookies from frozen dough, simply leave the dough on the counter to thaw for 20-30 minutes. Bake as usual. You may need to add up to 5 minutes on to the baking time. I recommend baking for 20 minutes, checking them out, then adding more time if needed.
How long can you refrigerate chocolate chip cookie dough?
You can leave the bacon chocolate chip cookie dough in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. After that, I would recommend baking the remaining dough or transferring it to the freezer.
