Never buy a bottle of store-bought honey mustard dressing again! Instead, use this easy recipe that combines golden honey with tangy mustard, creating a delicious symphony of flavors. This sweet and savory dressing tastes delicious on more than just salads. Use it as a dipping sauce for french fries, chicken tenders, and so much more!
You can also use the dressing as a marinade for chicken, a finishing sauce for smoked pork chops, or tossed with meatballs. The possibilities really are endless when it comes to the uses for this homemade honey mustard dressing.
Grab a mason jar, shake up the 6 simple ingredients used to make this dressing, and get cooking!
Ingredients
- Dijon mustard – you can also use yellow mustard, but I like the sharp tang that dijon adds to the salad dressing.
- Honey – to sweeten the dressing.
- Olive oil – or another neutral-flavored oil, like vegetable oil, canola oil, or avocado oil.
- Lemon juice – the zesty flavor from the lemon juice will help balance out the sweetness of the dressing. I always recommend fresh-squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor.
- Salt + black pepper – to season the salad dressing.
The ingredients used in this recipe are gluten-free and dairy-free. To make this recipe vegan, replace the honey with maple syrup.
Instructions
- Add dijon mustard, lemon juice, honey, salt and pepper to a mason jar. Cover and shake to combine the ingredients.
- Drizzle olive oil into the jar with the other ingredients. Cover and shake the ingredients together.
You can also add the ingredients to a small bowl and whisk them together, instead of using a mason jar. I simply like to use a jar because then you can store the dressing in the refrigerator, in the same container that you used to make it.
Ways to use it
- As a salad dressing – this one is pretty obvious, but it seriously makes a great dressing for the Crispy Chicken Salad (pictured above) and this Healthy Cobb Salad recipe.
- As a dipping sauce – dip Air Fryer French Fries, Chicken Tenders or Sweet Potato Fries into this magically delicious honey mustard sauce. It’s also a great dip for veggies, like carrots, celery sticks, broccoli, or bell peppers.
- Tossed with meatballs – these Buffalo Honey Mustard Meatballs are always a hit! Combine this dressing with hot and tangy buffalo sauce to make the ultimate sauce for meatballs.
- Drizzled over cooked vegetables – roasted, steamed, or grilled veggies are even more delicious, finished with a drizzle of this honey mustard dressing. Try it on these Grilled Brussels Sprouts!
- As a marinade – use this honey mustard dressing to marinate chicken breasts or pork chops before grilling. Try it in this recipe for Alice Springs Chicken!
- As a finishing sauce – instead of bbq sauce, finish these Smoked Pork Chops with a honey mustard glaze on top.
How to store it
Store the honey mustard dressing in the fridge for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container with a tight-fitting lid.
Before using the dressing, shake it up in the container it’s stored in, or open the container and stir the dressing.
