BONUS! It’s easy to make with only 15 minutes of prep time and can be easily adjusted to make Chocolate Chip Gluten Free Banana Bread or Blueberry Banana Bread!
What if I told you that THE BEST banana bread recipe out there was also gluten free? That’s right, I’ve made this banana bread recipe dozens of times over the years. I’ve shared slices with friends, family and neighbors and everyone was shocked when I told them it was gluten free!
It’s SO moist, with the perfect light and chewy texture and wonderful flavor. Whether you normally eat gluten free or not, you should definitely try this Strawberry Banana Bread!
And if you want to make the bread with gluten, you can substitute the same amount of traditional flour for the gluten free flour. It will work just the same, it just won’t be gluten free.

Use chocolate chips or blueberries instead of strawberries, or in addition to strawberries! A half strawberry, half chocolate chip combo sounds delicious to me!
Heck, why not make three loaves and try all three?! I’m totally on board for that! If you love banana bread, you’re going to to quickly become obsessed with this gluten free banana bread recipe!
How to make Strawberry Banana Bread
-
Make the bread batter.
- Cream sugar and butter together with an electric hand mixer in a large bowl or using a stand mixer.
- Add eggs, mashed bananas and milk, mix until well combined.
- In a small bowl, combine gluten free flour, ground cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Quick Tip! For the gluten free flour, I recommend using a gluten free flour blend, like Bobs Red Mill 1 to 1 Baking Flour.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Hand mix in sliced strawberries.
- Quick Tip! I like to reserve a few of the sliced strawberries to place on top of the bread before baking. This is not necessary, but makes for a prettier presentation!
-
Bake the bread.
- Spray a 9″ x 5″ loaf pan with cooking spray or coat with butter.
- Quick Tip! Do not use cooking sprays labeled as “baking” for gluten free bread, as they usually contain flour and therefore are not gluten free.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely at room temperature (approximately 30 minutes – 1 hour) before removing from the pan and slicing.
- Spray a 9″ x 5″ loaf pan with cooking spray or coat with butter.
Can you make other flavors of gluten free banana bread?
Of course! This gluten free banana bread is so versatile and can easily be made without the strawberries or with other ingredients, like chocolate chips of blueberries.
To replace the strawberries, simply use the same amount of either chocolate chips or blueberries.
Can I use frozen fruit in banana bread?
Yes, frozen, dried or fresh strawberries or blueberries can be used in this banana bread recipe.

I’ve made this several times and loved it. Half the recipe works for an 8×4 loaf pan. Do you think any modifications would be needed to make a dozen muffins?
HI Laurie, so glad you’re enjoying this recipe! I’ve made it into muffins before and it works great!
I have only made a few gluten free breads since going gluten free. This strawberry -banana bread turned out perfectly and didn’t taste gluten free. The taste was amazing. So glad I made this. I took some to my daughter who also can’t eat gluten. Hubby doesn’t have an allergy so it will be interesting to see what they both think. Thank you for the wonderful recipe! 🍓🍌
