A couple of months ago, I stumbled upon Halcyon, a new hybrid coffee/bar/restaurant in the East Village neighborhood of downtown San Diego.
I was with a group of friends on a Friday night, so we asked for the cocktail list. I was so ridiculously excited when they presented me with an entire menu of coffee cocktails. As a die-hard coffee-loving girl, I couldn’t wait to try one of these cocktail creations!
I was immediately drawn to the “Long Island Iced Coffee” – I was both intrigued and excited about trying this – I figured that it would either be the best thing ever or totally weird – IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER!
I became totally obsessed with going to Halcyon for this cocktail and their Budino (AKA my new favorite dessert!)
I knew that I wanted to recreate this amazing cocktail at home, but then I figured, why not go straight to the source for the original recipe? After spending many nights over the last couple of months at Halcyon, I’ve gotten to know “all the right people” to ask for this delicious recipe 😉
They were nice enough to share their recipe with me, and allow me to share it with all of you on LLB!
- ½ oz Baileys
- ½ oz Kahlua
- ½ oz vodka
- ½ oz rum
- ½ oz tequila
- 2 oz cold brew coffee (or iced coffee)
Combine all of the ingredients in a mixer and shake, then strain into a glass with ice… just like John shows us below… but you must wear the hat and vest for it to taste as good as his 😉
Boozy caffeine perfection!
Now let’s get this Memorial Day Weekend started, it’s coffee, so it’s totally acceptable to be drinking this at 10 AM, right? Whatever, it’s FRIIIIIIDAY 😉
