It’s day 4 of Thanksgiving Week on the blog and so far this week, we’ve gotten saucy with this Chipotle Mango Cranberry Sauce, we’ve mashed with these Twice Baked Rosemary Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes & we’ve tossed together an amazing Brussels Sprout Salad with Dijon Dressing, now it’s time for the main course of Thanksgiving dinner, the turkey!
Whether you’re roasting a whole turkey or just a turkey breast for the holiday, I’m totally obsessed with the Oven Ready Turkey’s from Jennie-O, they make the main course the easiest part of the meal!
For this recipe, I’m helping you free up some oven space by cooking the turkey breast in a slow cooker. This recipe couldn’t be easier! In just 5 minutes, prep it in the slow cooker, then set it aside and forget about it while you make the rest of your Thanksgiving meal!
The maple apple glaze keeps the turkey breast moist as it cooks and gives the finished turkey a sweet, flavorful exterior!
Cooking a turkey breast for Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving is perfect if you have a small group or if you want to make different kinds of turkeys. Every year I make two or three different turkey breast recipes. This Bacon Wrapped Turkey Breast and this Cranberry Glazed Turkey Breast are both family favorites!
This slow cooker turkey breast recipe is not just for Thanksgiving though, it’s an easy recipe to make for a weeknight dinner anytime!
I always buy a couple of extra turkey breasts around Thanksgiving and store them in my freezer to make throughout the fall and winter for dinner. Even if you’re just making it for 2-4 people, the leftovers make delicious turkey sandwiches throughout the week!
- 3-4 lb Jennie-O Oven Ready Boneless Turkey Breast
- 1 cup apple cider
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Remove the turkey breast from the outer packaging, but leave in the cooking bag. Place the cooking bag with the frozen turkey in the bottom of the slow cooker. Cut three 1/2 inch slits in the top of the fool proof cooking bag.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk the apple cider, maple syrup, salt and pepper together. Pour over the turkey breast in the slow cooker.
Slow cook 3-4 hours on high or 5-6 hours on low. Always cook to 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer.
Remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker, then remove from the cooking bag, place back in the slow cooker and flip to coat in the maple apple glaze. Remove from the slow cooker and place on a cutting board. Use an electric knife or carving knife to slice the turkey breast. Serve on a platter with thyme and rosemary sprigs as a garnish, if you’d like!
This Slow Cooker Turkey Breast is seriously the easiest part of my Thanksgiving meal and it pairs perfectly with my Maple Apple Brussels Sprouts.
