Tender, flavorful pork tenderloin is marinated in fresh herbs, then combined with apples and shallots in this delicious recipe for grilled pork skewers! Serve the skewers with a side of Roasted Potatoes or Mashed Sweet Potatoes for a delicious meal.
Skewers are one of my favorite things to toss on the grill. They’re easy to prep ahead of time, fun to share and great for dinner with the family or a backyard BBQ with friends!
Over the years I’ve shared 15 skewer recipes on the blog, including these Chipotle Lime Chicken Fajita Skewers, which have been a Bond family favorite for years and one of the most popular recipes on the blog since 2012.
These Chimichurri Shrimp Skewers, which are so easy to make with just 3 ingredients, in 29 minutes! And for the vegetarians in the room, these Grilled Vegetable Skewers, which are so flavorful and great as a vegan main dish or veggie side dish!
For these pork skewers, I used pork tenderloin, a lean, healthy cut of pork that’s great for grilling. I marinated the pork in two of my favorite herbs, rosemary and sage, then skewered the pork with apples and shallots. The flavor combination is unreal!
How to make pork skewers
Marinate the pork.
- In a medium bowl, combine olive oil, balsamic vinegar, fresh rosemary, sage and steak seasoning.
- Slice a pork tenderloin into cubes and add the pieces of pork to the marinade.
- Place in the refrigerator and marinate the meat for 20 minutes.
Prepare and grill the skewers.
- After the pork has marinated for 20 minutes, remove it from the refrigerator and skewer with apples and shallots.
- Heat a grill (or grill pan) over medium heat.
- Add the skewers and grill for 5 minutes.
- Rotate the skewers and grill for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from the grill and serve immediately.
Quick Tip! If using bamboo or wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before adding ingredients to them. Soaking the skewers helps prevent them from catching fire on the grill.
How to cook them in the oven
Don’t have a grill or grill pan handy? No problem! To make these skewers in the oven, simply preheat the broiler on the oven to low.
Place the pork skewers on a baking sheet and under the broiler (app 5 inches from the heating element) for 5-6 minutes. Remove from the oven, rotate the skewers, then place back under the broiler for 5-6 minutes.
Metal skewers are fine to use in the oven. If using wooden or bamboo skewers, be sure to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes, as I mentioned above, so that they don’t catch fire in the oven.
What temperature should I cook pork tenderloin?
Pork tenderloin should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F.
