This easy four ingredient recipe for buffalo cheesy slow cooker sausage balls makes the perfect party appetizer!
Buffalo Sauce + Cheesy Slow Cooker Sausage Balls = My New Favorite Thing!!
Seriously though, as I was thinking about new appetizer recipes to make for holiday parties, I knew that I had to include a “Buffalo Style” recipe in the mix to go along with my Buffalo Chicken Phyllo Rolls, Buffalo Pickle Chips and Buffalo Cheese Ball!
I wanted to create an easy recipe that I could pre-make and take to a party, and that’s where the idea for this delicious new dish came from!
These Buffalo Cheesy Sausage Balls only take about 20 minutes of prep time, then slow cook in the Wonderbag, or in a traditional slow cooker, all afternoon and are easily transported to a party, hot and ready to be devoured!
If you’re not familiar with the Wonderbag, it’s a non-electric portable slow cooker that continues to cook food, which has been brought to a boil, for up to 8 hours without the use of additional electricity or fuel.

Now let’s make some cheesy slow cooker sausage balls!
- 2 lbs pork sausage
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 12 oz buffalo sauce
Combine the sausage, cream cheese and cheddar cheese in a large bowl.
Form into 18-20 balls.
Place a large lidded pot or dutch oven on the stove over medium heat.
Add the sausage balls and cook through.
*If all of the balls won’t fit into the pot at once, you can cook half of them, remove from the pot and set aside, then cook the rest.
Once all of the balls are cooked through, add any that you cooked and set aside back to the large pot.
If you’re using a Wonderbag, cover with the buffalo sauce. Bring the sauce to a boil, cover with a lid, remove from the heat and place in the Wonderbag. Close the Wonderbag and allow to slow cook for 3-4 hours.
If you’re using a traditional slow cooker, transfer the meatballs to a slow cooker after they’re cooked through on the stove, then cover in the buffalo sauce and slow cook on low 3-4 hours, or on high 1-2 hours.
When ready to serve, place the sausage balls on a serving dish, spoon any remaining sauce from the pot, or slow cooker, over the sausage balls and serve with toothpicks for the perfect party appetizer!
A recipe that’s easy as can be and will get rave reviews at any party!
