Inspired by the popularity of these Cheesy Pull Apart Rolls, I made these pepperoni pizza rolls. And OMG am I glad that I did! These pull apart pizza rolls are SO MUCH BETTER than anything you’d purchase in a box in the freezer aisle. And they only take 10 minutes to toss together! Almost as easy as opening a box of frozen pizza rolls, but these are 100 times more delicious!

I’ve eaten these cheesy bites of goodness with pasta and marinara sauce for dinner, as an afternoon snack, and they’re about to be on my Super Bowl party menu. Needless to say, they’re delicious for so many occasions and I guarantee that after you try them, you’ll find a way to add them to your menu every week!

Filled with flavorful Italian seasoning, gooey mozzarella cheese and salty pepperonis, these rolls are absolutely delicious on their own, or dunked into a big bowl of marinara sauce. Follow the instructions below to make these tasty pepperoni pizza rolls at home, and be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for a 1 minute video showing how they’re made!

Ingredients

For the full ingredient quantities, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Refrigerated canned biscuits – any 16 ounce can of unflavored biscuits will work for this recipe.
  • Unsalted butter – if you only have salted butter available, omit the added salt in this recipe.
  • Mozzarella cheese – low moisture, whole milk mozzarella cheese is best for melting into the rolls. You can shred it yourself or purchase a bag of pre-shredded mozzarella cheese to make this recipe even easier!
  • Italian seasoning – this is what gives the rolls it’s signature herb-forward flavor. I used my homemade seasoning mix, linked to the left, that contains 7 herbs and spices, including minced garlic. You can also purchase pre-made Italian seasoning at the grocery store. Just make sure that the store-bought seasoning contains garlic and oregano for that signature pizza flavor.
  • Salt – I recommend kosher salt or sea salt for the best flavor.
  • Mini pepperonis – these mini pepperonis are just the right size for tossing right into the pizza rolls. If you can’t find the pepperoni minis, don’t worry! Simply purchase regular-sized pepperoni slices and cut them into quarters before adding them to the pizza rolls.
  • Marinara sauceoptional ingredient: if you want to serve marinara sauce, or pizza sauce, on the side for dipping, grab a jar of your favorite sauce at the grocery store, or use the link to the left to grab my favorite recipe! You could also dip them into ranch dressing, if that’s more your style.

Instructions

I’ve included step by step photos below to make this recipe super easy to follow at home. For the full detailed recipe instructions and video, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  1. Use a serrated knife to cut each biscuit into 9 pieces.
  2. Melt butter in a large bowl, then add shredded mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning and salt.
  3. Stir to combine the melted butter, cheese and herbs. Add the pieces of biscuit dough and mini pepperonis to this mixture. Toss until they’re completely coated.
  4. Spray a muffin tin with cooking spray, then divide the seasoned, buttery, cheesy biscuit dough pieces between each of the compartments in the muffin tin. You’ll want approximately 6 pieces in each hole of the muffin tin. Sprinkle approximately one teaspoon of additional shredded mozzarella on top of each roll. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
