Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day! It can be sweet or savory.

It can include dishes that resemble dessert, yet are a perfectly acceptable way to start the day. Like these Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins with a Chocolate Crumble or this Caramel Apple Bread Pudding.

Sweet treats for breakfast are one of my guilty pleasures. And these Strawberry Pancakes with Cream Cheese Syrup are at the top of my guilty pleasure list!

Cream Cheese Syrup, yes that is an actual thing. And if not, I just made it happen!  You’re welcome! 😉

I’ve been making these homemade pancakes for years and I guarantee they’ll be the best, most fluffy pancakes you’ve ever had. You can even substitute other ingredients for the strawberries, such as blueberries, chocolate chips or sliced bananas.

Adding the cream cheese syrup is totally optionally. But I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t highly encourage you to make the cream cheese syrup!

Jalapeno Popper Pigs in a Blanket

Combine two appetizer favorites into one with jalapeno popper pigs in a blanket! Roasted jalapenos are filled with cheese and little smokies, then wrapped in crescent rolls for an easy recipe that is sure to impress your friends!

Jalapeno Popper Pigs in a Blanket on a Green Plate with Ranch Dressing

One of my favorite things to do when creating new recipes is to combine two favorite dishes into one amazing new dish!

I was inspired to make this recipe after seeing something similar on a menu in Washington DC at Fat Pete’s BBQ. Their version featured jalapenos, stuffed with cream cheese, topped with a little smokie, then wrapped in bacon.

I decided to go more traditional with my pigs in a blanket and wrap the entire thing in crescent rolls, but I have no doubt that bacon would also be an amazing choice!

The real debate was what to call this little appetizer, the best idea I heard from friends was “Pigs in a Popper”, so cute and perfect for this appetizer mash-up!

Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins with Chocolate Crumble

Fresh blueberries and luscious cream cheese are combined in these delicious blueberry cream cheese muffins, topped with a scrumptious chocolate crumble!

Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins with Chocolate Crumble

Growing up, and still to this day, Blueberry Muffins are one of my favorite breakfast menu items! I took this version of the classic muffin to a whole other level, possibly to a whole other menu!

These blueberry cream cheese muffins are so decadent, they could easily be mistaken for dessert (or if you are me, 3 nights last week, they actually were dessert!)  Yeah, I just admitted that 😉

When I took these muffins out of the oven, the blueberry was bubbling out of the chocolate crumble topping and my mouth immediately began to water!

While I will always love my Bacon Maple Brown Sugar Muffins, they are now tied for first place with these delicious little treats!

Bruschetta Cheese Dip

Fresh bruschetta combined with melted, creamy cheeses makes for one delicious bruschetta cheese dip recipe, made in only 10 minutes, perfect as a party appetizer!

Bruschetta Cheese Dip Recipe

This recipe is the result of an almost accident.

When I was home over the holidays, my Dad was making cheese dip (Velvetta + Rotel, an Oklahoma staple when eating Tex-Mex!), he reached in the refrigerator to grab a tupperware container of rotel and he accidentally grabbed the tupperware of leftover bruschetta.

He realized before he actually added it to the bowl of Velvetta, but then I got an idea. What if I made an Italian version of “cheese dip” with bruschetta instead of Rotel and a combination of cream cheese and mozzarella instead of Velvetta?

Well, I tried this bruschetta cheese dip recipe idea and I loved it, so today I’m sharing it with you!

Champagne, nutmeg, first anniversary, dessert, recipe, food, ice cream, sopapillas, cinnamon, stuffed, cream cheese

When I decided to serve Mexican food for my one year blog anniversary dinner I knew I had to stick with this cuisine throughout the whole meal, including the dessert.

Instead of baking a one year anniversary cake, I went with one year anniversary nutmeg and cream cheese stuffed sopapillas complemented by a delicious side of homemade coffee ice cream.

The result was an entire house that smelled like cinnamon heaven and a sweet, creamy, delicious dessert!

Crescent rolls, cream cheese, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, sugar, butter

  • 16 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 2 8 oz packages crescent rolls
  • 3 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup honey (not pictured/for topping)

Add the cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tbsp cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla to a large mixing bowl.

Lemon Zest Cupcakes with Lemon Cream Frosting

As the resident foodie and party planner extraordinaire for all my friends, when Birthday time comes around I’m everyone’s first call!  For a friend I’ve known my whole life I pull at all the stops, and that friend would be Billy!

It just happens that Billy’s Birthday fell on Super Bowl Sunday this year, bonus!  So a duel celebration was in order, biggest football day of the year and celebrating the birth of one of the greatest guys I know!

So the first question I ask my friends as their birthday approaches is “what kind of cake”? This year Billy responds with the dreaded “surprise me!”  Oh no, this means not only do I have to come up with an amazing cake, I also have to figure out what kind of cake that is!

So in true Whitney Bond fashion, I made three cakes, just to be sure!!! Some were made into cupcakes, like these delightful little desserts! (Easier for sharing at a party!)

Ingredients (makes 48 mini cupcakes or 24 large cupcakes)

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • lemon zest from 2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup half-and-half

Start by pre-heating the oven to 350°F and lining a cupcake pan with paper liners.

Next, combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a small mixing bowl.

In a medium mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar together, then add eggs one at a time. Next, add the zest and vanilla.

Then add the lemon juice and half-and-half.

Combine together with electric hand mixer.

Mmmm creamy! Now spoon into the lined cupcake pan.

I used the mini-cupcake pan because they’re so darn cute and easy to gobble up in one bite!

Bake for app 15 minutes.

Now it’s time to make the Lemon Cream Frosting!  I simply took my Cream Cheese Frosting recipe and added lemon juice!

  • 2 8 oz packages cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Use an electric hand mixer to combine ingredients. Next spread on top of the lemon zest cupcakes!

Now of course I have no pictures of the cupcakes WITH the frosting on top! I got busy making all of the other delicious Super Bowl Party food and asked my girls to frost the cupcakes for me, by the time I realized there were no pictures, they were all gone!

I promise they were as pretty as they were yummy!
